IT IS the last chance for runners and fundraisers to sign up for the annual Harefield Hospital fun run.

So far a number of people have signed up for the run, which will raise money for new equipment for the Harefield and Royal Brompton Hospital.

The race begins from the hospital's ANZAC centre on Hill End Road, Harefield on Sunday (6/9) and runners and walkers can sign up on the day for a fee of £10.

Jenny Walton, fundraising director, said: "So far, we have had a fantastic response, with over 500 participants signing up to take part.

"We would like to encourage more people to join in and make the fun run a truly amazing event. The fun run is a great way for Harefield residents to have a healthy day out whilst supporting a local cause. We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us."

The fun run starts at 11.30 am although there will be other activities, stalls and entertainment from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm as well as a raffle with fabulous prizes, including a trial lesson in a glider.

There will also be a silent auction featuring prizes generously donated by TV chef Rick Stein, including a £200 meal voucher at The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow plus one night's accommodation.

It is also the last chance to sponsor the Gazette's runners, Dan Coombs and Chris Longhurst, who are running to raise money for the hospital.

The pair spent last Wednesday evening running in the rain around Harefield in training for Sunday.
