THE election(s) are looming, and out come the 'Look what we have done' brigade around every corner in Hayes.

We have council officers claiming credit for closing properties in East Avenue, when in fact it was the Hayes MP and local councillors and their supporters who got it done (Drug properties are shut down, Hayes and Harlington Gazette, March 10).

Ed Shaylor? Who is Ed Shaylor? One of the 'sit behind desks at the civic centre' people.

Then we have the councillor from Northwood who wants to take on the existing and incredibly hard-working John McDonnell MP (Undaunted by fight for Labour stronghold, Gazette, March 17).

Mr Seaman-Digby, whose only link to fame is that, while his parents were working, he was babysat by his grandparents in Hayes.

Well woopeedoo - that makes him a bona fide Hayesite does it? No it doesn't! It means he's just someone who is enjoying having his ego massaged.

Anything that has been achieved in Hayes has been achieved by the hard-working Labour councillors, who have fought tooth and nail against the Conservatives.

Roll on May.
