A STRONG set of GCSE results has brought about celebrations at the Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School.

The school in Greenford Road, Greenford, has 80 per cent of students with five or more A* to C passes in traditional subjects, 95 per cent achieving these top grades in English and 80 per cent in Maths.

Individual highlights include Nicole Abou-Abdelah who reaped nine A* grades and is one of forty students with seven or more A*s or As.

These results follow Cardinal Wiseman’s best ever A levels last week, with sixteen pupils getting straight A* and As and two students gaining places at Oxford and Cambridge, the first time the school has had acceptances from both universities.

Headteacher Michael Kiely said: “We are delighted, they are a very strong set of results. We are all very proud of the fact that so many students this year have gone to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, although it is not a surprise as they’re bright students who have worked very hard.”
