Hanworth will come alive from this weekend with day after day of fun for all the family as the carnival comes to town.

The main event, the following Saturday, will be a gala fete of stalls and sideshows in the village hall and its grounds, opening at 1pm on July 5.

As well as the Hanworth Baby Show (£2 to enter, from 3pm), a vintage vehicle show (entry free, from 11.30am), musical entertainment and a Punch and Judy show will be part of the fun.

Once things are under way a carnival parade of fancy dress walkers will head for the village hall, leaving from All Saints Church car park, Uxbridge Road, at 2pm, and heading down Hounslow Road and Park Road.

The day will be capped off with a Hanworth Villa friendly football match at 6pm, in aid of Hanworth Carnival and Cancer Research UK.

Before the big day there will be a Cash Bingo event on Saturday, June 29, from 8pm, and on Sunday, June 30, there will be a Children's Pet Show (entries £1, from 1pm, judging at 2pm) and Fun Dog Show (entries £1, from 12.30pm, judging 1pm).

On Monday, June 30, there will be a children's disco from 6-7.30pm (eight to 16-year-olds, £2 entry) and a pub quiz from 8pm (£2 a head, teams of up to five).

On Tuesday, July 1, there will be a free Senior Citizens' afternoon from 2pm, with refreshments and entertainment, and on Thursday, July 3, local scouts will be organising an It's a Knockout event of fun and games for young people from 7pm.

On Sunday, July 13, there will be a Thanksgiving Service at St Richard's Church, Forge Lane, Hanworth, from 6pm, offering a chance for everyone to get together after the carnival.

All events will be held in the village hall and its grounds, unless stated otherwise.

Ian Hancock, one of the organising committee, said all money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.

"Things are progressing well, and we think a few thousand will come depending on the weather," he added.
