Half of Hounslow's secondary schools will close tomorrow (Thursday, July 10) if the national public sector strike over pay goes ahead as planned, getwestlondon can reveal.

Seven of the borough's 15 secondary schools have said they would be fully shut as NUT (National Union of Teacher) members join firefighters and council staff in a huge walkout.

Five more have said they will be partially closed, with only three open as normal.

Hounslow NUT has said it expects the majority of schools in the borough to be affected by the strike.

Hounslow Council has yet to confirm how it expects its services, including bin collections, to be affected. However, a council spokesman has said it will ensure vital services for its most vulnerable residents continue as normal.
