I AM WRITING in response to the Twickenham man who says it's very cheap to get fit in the new gym next to the Asda store.

He says he paid an opening price of £9.99 a month, which is now £14.99.

I can tell you I do not own a car, I eat when hungry and stay away from pizzas and burger takeaways.

I do not go to any gym but to keep fit I go jogging on the street and stay active every day by walking to work and the supermarket or taking a Sunday stroll on the riverbank or canal towpath.

Now look at the price I pay: £0 a month.

As for the letter from Ashford, where people in a block of flats are forced to keep their rubbish inside till collection day, this doesn't surprise me.

Many households produce five to 10 bin bags of rubbish a week and it's been like that since the council stopped supplying each household with twoblack bin bags with the council's name printed on them.

This excess rubbish is down to all the cheap poundstore tat in high streets up and down this country, with pound shops, 99p, 98p and even 90p stores selling junk.

The UK has become a throwaway society.
