RAIDERS hit a security guard over the head with a hammer and made off with about £40,000 in cash in a robbery this morning.
The 63-year-old victim was delivering the money to Waitrose in Alexandria Road, West Ealing, when he was attacked outside the store.
His helmet protected him from the blow but he was still left with minor injuries and taken to hospital at about 6.50am.
He has since been discharged.
Police are investigating.
There have been no arrests.
