Harrow is the most baking-mad place in Britain, according to an analysis of the country's businesses.

Research found that there are a total of 62 companies in the borough that make or sell baked goods, according to figures from Companies House.

This is the equivalent of 25.2 bakeries for every 100,000 people in the area, the highest ratio in Britain.

Harrow's bakery landscape has expanded faster than a well-kneaded dough since the Great British Bake Off hit our screens in August 2010.

A total of 55% of the borough's baking businesses started after 2009.

As a whole, west London is home to 293 baking businesses with 53% of these having opened since the BBC's smash hit show began.

After Harrow, Westminster is the most likely place for you to encounter a bakery with 24.4 per 100,000 residents while Hounslow is the least likely with 6.4 per 100,000.

The UK is home to 4,190 baking businesses according to the data with just over half having opened since the Great British Bake Off was first broadcast.
