FOR those who don't know, the Norman Leddy Memorial Gardens in Grange Road, Hayes, are an oasis of calm in an ever-crazy world.

They are beautifully kept; well done parks department, or whoever is responsible. So bearing this in mind, I was dismayed yet again on Sunday to see the gardens being used for a photo shoot.

This I can understand, as it is beautiful setting for this purpose, but keep to the path if you must do it.

What really angered me was the total disregard of the notices that ask you not to walk on the ornamental lawns.

This is a place where people go and sit and think and be peaceful, not to listen to chit chat: 'Stand here, look this way' etc.

Never mind the heel marks in the turf, or the child who thought it was OK to roll around, throw berries and generally show no respect for where he was.

I did point this out, and the adult he was with did tell him to get off the grass, but as there was no good example being set by the adults, he continued to carry on as before. So much for discipline starting in the home!

Do we now hire out for photo shoots? If so, how much does it cost? If not, is there a way we can stop this?

Beautiful Barra Hall Park is a few feet away; can't they use that? It is ruining the tranquillity for everyone.

The clue is in the name: 'Memorial Garden', not 'Pinewood Studios'.

I am told by people who live nearby that this happens on a regular basis, but it shouldn't.

Can anything be done or do we just let it pass and turn a blind eye and not make a fuss?

Let us try and keep hold of one beautiful area of Hayes. They are, after all, in very short supply.
