THANKS for printing the article on Lord Darzi's proposals for polyclinics (Chronicle, May 15)

I work in the pharmaceutical field in west London visiting doctors' surgeries.

Out of the 400 surgeries I visit I have yet to find a GP who embraces the concept of polyclinics with open arms.

GPs and patients develop trust and long-term relationships with each other. GPs and nurses know best how to care for patients.

These would be in jeopardy under the new proposals and patients may have to travel further.

Most surgeries already have multiple GPs working there and the Government needs to ensure that these practices receive appropriate funding rather than an overhaul of a tried and tested system.

GPs are there for us when we need them, now it is time for politicians to be there for GPs when they need them.

Labour's Ann Keen was elected to do something about the NHS; name me ONE idea that she came up with that was implemented to benefit the NHS?

Given the recent win for the Conservatives in the May elections and the Crewe by-election, I think it is appropriate for the Conservative candidate for Brentford & Isleworth, Mary McLeod, to start thinking what she would do in the first months of her tenure as the Conservative MP.

The concerns raised by GPs and nurses locally must take priority.
