MORE than 400 people visited Harrow Council’s jobs fair.

The aim of the event, on Tuesday, March 19, was to offer the unemployed direct contact with seven training providers and 19 employers, alongside other specialist agencies offering advice and support on their job search.

Avon representative Roslun Achom said: “I never expected to see so many people or get the response that we have had. It just shows that there are so many people out there who need work.

“Already we have signed up six people to become representatives for us.”

Shwetha Varsha, a civil engineer looking for work, said: “I got to hand my CV in directly to a major construction company, so I am hopeful for the future.

“Everybody who I have spoken to has been very approachable and friendly and the whole event has been very helpful for me.”
