A first school in Pinner has been given a flawless Ofsted report - receiving the highest possible grade in every area.

Standards at Cannon Lane First School, in Cannonbury Avenue, were labelled 'exceptionally high' by inspectors from the education watchdog, after they visited last month.

Lead inspector Rob Crompton praised the school highly in the report, referring to its excellent teaching, harmonious community and impressive ethos. He wrote: "We were highly impressed by the way adults and children got on together at the school. The behaviour is outstanding and the children are polite, helpful and show a great deal of respect for one another.

"I have never been to a school where children take such a strong part in planning improvements or where pupils know so much about their own learning."

The report also said there were no areas in need of improvements because the school had no weaknesses.

Headteacher Dr Reena Keeble was delighted with the findings released last week and paid tribute to the efforts of all the staff and pupils.

She said: "I'm thrilled with the out-come. It is a significant achievement to receive an outstanding grade in every single category.

"We have decided to celebrate the success with the pupils by inviting a professional musician to perform Indian music and songs."

Ofsted assesses schools in a number of fields including standards, pupils' achievement, the quality of provision and overall effectiveness.

In total they are graded in 33 areas, in all of which Cannon Lane First was awarded an 'outstanding' mark.

The school currently has 356 pupils on its registers aged between four and eight.
