In response to the article regarding pavement parking (Chronicle, December 4) and the question 'have you had a similar experience?', in my case the answer is 'no' as I do not break the law.

As in so many cases these days, give people an inch and they take a mile.

In this event, reinforcing damaged grass verges has allowed residents to put two wheels of their vehicles off the road, although there are no signs or markings authorising this practice.

What follows is misinterpretation and abuse by parking the whole vehicle off the road, resulting in it being partly parked on the footpath, as was evident in the left of the photograph accompanying the article.

This would be a breach of parking regulations and would warrant a fine.

I note none of the residents of The Warren complained about the large number of cars in front gardens that have no dropped curb to allow access to these properties, causing damage to paving - also an offence punishable with a fine.

These problems are borough-wide and are not particular to one street.

I would rather see parking wardens' time spent dealing with offences that endanger pedestrians and other road users, and damage footpaths, than hanging around car parks to catch offenders.

Let's all remember laws, rules and regulations are there for a reason. If we break them we have to be prepared to face the consequences.
