The sound you will hear as you travel around Wembley throughout the year is guaranteed to be a cool cluster of talented singers.

Girl group Xyra won the Music Talent Search competition run by the London Designer Outlet which bags them the prize of an exclusive busking spot outside Wembley Arena and on top of that they win £1,000.

Hundreds of wannabe singers battled it out to be crowned winner of
the X Factor-style singing contest for which the live final took place at the shopping centre in Engineers Way, Wembley, on Saturday.

Xyra, with members from across Britain including London, were the winners and up against them in the final were Cleo Stewart from Dollis Hill, Laura Williams from Harrow, Jessica Mary York from Shepherd’s Bush, and Kristina Angelina and Anastasia Liberos, both from Wembley.

Xyra band member Nadina Knight said: “We are all absolutely thrilled to have won London Designer Outlet’s Music Talent Search Competition.

“All the finalists were of such a high calibre, that we were in complete shock when Neev from Kiss FM announced our name.

“We love hitting the shops at London Designer Outlet, so we’re really looking forward to taking up the official busking spot at Wembley Park.”

The girl band will be awarded £1,000 and the first ever exclusive official busking slot outside Wembley Arena for the whole of the rest of this year, where they can showcase their musical talents to over four million eventgoers, stars and daily commuters.

DJ Neev said: “We have been overwhelmed with the level of talent and variety of music genres from the entries for the Music Talent Search contest.”

The shopping outlet which opened in October launched the local and London-wide search at the end of last year for those with the potential to go far in the music industry.

Contestants had to perform live at the mall in February and a final 10 was selected by a panel of judges including Kiss FM DJ Neev.

Supporters were able to vote for their favourite finalist by using the hashtag #musictalentsearch and ‘@ing’ the shopping mall’s Twitter account @londonoutlet.

The six acts with the highest number of votes performed at a showdown in front of the panel of judges, who chose a winner.

Xyra, who describe themselves as “merging pop, rock and soul with unique harmonies”, are no strangers to singing contests. They won through to the Judges’ Houses stage of The X Factor in 2013 but were not selected by ex-Take That frontman Gary Barlow to make the live shows section of the ITV prime-time show.
