A NEWLY-refurbished Tesco at Greenford’s iconic Hoover Building has marked the occasion with a stunning giant red ribbon.

Staff at the iconic Tesco Hoover Building decided to capture the recent celebratory mood of the nation by gift-wrapping the entire front of the 1930’s building with a giant ribbon and bow.

Store manager Paul Dunican said: “We wanted people to take a fresh look at our newly refurbished store, so our staff came up with the idea of turning the whole building into a giant present for our loyal shoppers.

“As far as we know this is the first time a Tesco store has been decorated this way. With the Jubilee, the European Championships and very soon the London Olympics, it seemed just the right time to raise a smile and capture the jubilant mood of the whole country”.

Specialists were called in to advise and to help install the giant bow over the entrance to the Art Deco building. The red bow measures over four metres by three metres and the red ribbon is almost 100 metres long. It took a specialist team of six two days to hang.

The store has been given a more spacious entrance, a new meat counter, an extended World Food range, a new produce area, a new bakery and an improved store layout.
