I WAS pleased to hear about the dog that saved the day at the Old George pub in Heston (Chronicle, September 11).

I wouldn't like to be the intruders or arsonists who caused the trouble. Let us hope the long-arm of the law soon touches their collars.

The collar of Polly the dog should be encrusted with diamonds for the good work done.

I for one would willingly shake her warmly by the paw for the heroic efforts demonstrated.

In fact the next time somebody feels like a hard man after a couple of pints at chucking out time I would call on the trusty pooch to save the day and chase the revellers out.

Let's raise our glasses to Polly the dog that saved the Old George.
