A RECORD 71 per cent of students at Heston Community School achieved five or more A*-Cs including English and maths.

As teenagers across the country struggled with tougher exams this year, with the proportion of top grades falling nationally for the second year running, pupils at Heston excelled.

In total, 87 per cent of students at the school got at least five A*-C grades in any subject.
Headteacher Phil Ward described the results as the best in the school's history.

"Our results not only reflect the hard work and commitment of students and staff but our determination to nurture a passion for learning and to change the lives of our students through the education we provide," he added.
