A REMORSELESS gang member and crack cocaine dealer who refused help to change his ways has been locked away for 32 months.

Rakheed Daniel, of St Margaret’s Road, Kensal Green, supplied class A drugs in and around the NW10 postcode - even while on police bail.

The officer in the case, Detective Constable Paul Connelly, said: “Daniel is a gang member whose drug supply has blighted Kensal Green for too long.

“He has shown no remorse for his crimes and this sentence clearly reflects his actions.

“Despite being caught once, Daniel continued dealing drugs and were it not for the fantastic work of the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams could have got away with it.”

Daniel was caught last September smoking drugs in Hazel Road, Kensal Green, and Brent Police officers who search him found crack cocaine and heroin on the 20 year-old.

One month later, while on bail, Daniel was spotted discarding wraps of the same two drugs into a bin in Hazel Road.

Daniel initially denied any knowledge of the drugs in the bin but his fingerprints were later found on the packaging.

Further mobile phone evidence was recovered from his multiple mobile phones which linked him to the supply of drugs in and around the NW10 postcode.

He was charged with four counts of possession class A with intent to supply and a further count of possession of cannabis and pleaded guilty at court.

The 20-year-old was sentenced to 32 months’ detention in a young offender institution at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday January 30.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120.

Detective Superintendent Simon Rose said: “Daniel was targeted as he was a gang nominal (a gang member) who had refused the offers of help and diversion to change his ways.

“Post arrest, a comprehensive plan was put in place to seek corroboration so that the sentence would reflect the offending.

“The imprisonment for 32 months of a crack cocaine dealer will make Brent a significantly safer place preventing the harm caused by this drug and preventing the crimes that are committed by addicts to pay for it.”

Det Con Paul Connelly added: “Technology has moved on and Brent police will use all available resources to bring offenders to justice.

“This sends a clear message to drug dealers that we will find you, and you will go to prison.” n
