Exercise enthusiasts raised more than £700 for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan.

People flocked to Harrow Leisure Centre, in Christchurch Avenue, Wealdstone, to take part in a mass group exercise class including aerobics and Bollywood-style moves to get the blood pumping.

The event was organised by Everyone Active, the company which manages the centre for Harrow Council, in tribute to one of its staff members Chris Spencer, who has undergone a bone marrow transplant through the charity after being diagnosed with leukaemia last year.

Phil Edwards, general manager at the leisure centre, said: “This was a great event.

Five of the best events happening in Harrow and Brent this week

“In total, 104 people come along and took part in the exercise class and we raised more than £700 for the Antony Nolan charity.

“The instructors loved it and the members really enjoyed themselves. We’re hoping to put on another exercise class for charity soon.”

Anthony Nolan works to save the lives of people with blood cancer, such as leukaemia, by matching them to people who are willing to donate their bone marrow or blood stem cells for vital transplants.
