BREWERY staff have apologised to punters after being forced to cancel their planned summer open day in Chiswick.

Unforeseen circumstances have been blamed for the decision which will see the annual Fuller's Pride and Passion event postponed from next Saturday (20) to later in the year.

In past years the open day has provided a chance for ale lovers to visit the 200-year-old Griffin Brewery in Chiswick Lane South, take a tour round the site, meet the famous dray horses and enjoy a selection of food and drink.

A statement from a Fuller’s spokesman said: “Reluctantly, we have taken the decision to postpone the planned Pride & Passion Open Day, scheduled for Saturday July 20, until later in the year. “This is due to unforeseen circumstances. Please advise anyone you know who had planned to attend the event, and the rearranged date will be announced in due course.”

The brewery is famous for sharing the Griffin name with Brentford Football Club's home ground. The team, nicknamed the Bees, will be taking on Scottish Premier League champions Celtic in a friendly match at Griffin Park the same day.

However, Fullers have insisted the cancellation of the open day is nothing to do with the match.
