A COUPLE who met when they were 14 years old are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary tomorrow (Thursday) with a family party.
Jack, 82, and Joan Brinded, 81, of Crescent Gardens, Eastcote, were both members of a church youth club in Norwich.
They moved to Eastcote in the 1950s for Mr Brinded’s job with National Westminster bank.
“We met when we were youngsters and we’ve been together ever since,” he said.
“We are going to have a little family get-together here at our home, and hopefully the weather will be nice and we can get out in the garden.”
Their daughter Anne Hine contacted the Gazette to mark the 60th anniversary.
Mr and Mrs Brinded have two other children, Keith and Jill.
“People are generally living much longer, so there are more and more diamond wedding anniversaries now,” Mr Brinded said. “We are generally fit and well, and we hope to be for many more years to come.”
