A MAN injured in a crash on the M4 last week has died in hospital.

The motorcyclist was injured in a collision with the central reservation on the elevated section of the motorway in Brentford last Tuesday (May 10) at about 8.40pm.

The 53-year-old from Hampstead, who has yet to be named, was taken to a central London hospital where he died on Saturday (May 14).

Traffic police today issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the incident, in which no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

DS Harry Wilkinson, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am grateful for a number of people who stopped at the scene to assist the emergency services that night.

"This stretch of motorway was fairly busy at that time and I would urge anyone who may have seen the motorcyclist in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact police."

An inquest into the death has yet to be opened.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Road Death Investigation Unit at Hampton Traffic Garage's witness appeal line on 020 8941 9011.
