Free pedometers will be handed out at an event next Thursday (February 27) to encourage people to get in shape.

The electronic devices, which tell users how far they have walked, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at a free healthy living show at York House, in Richmond Road, Twickenham, from 6pm.

Visitors can also get mini health checks, meet fitness trainers and sign up to NHS programmes to help them lose weight, stop smoking. The guest speaker will be public health consultant Anna Raleigh.

The fair is organised by Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare Trust, which provides the majority of healthcare outside of hospitals and GP surgeries across the two boroughs.
