Adventure and romance are coming to Brentford next Thursday (August 14), with free open-air performances of Treasure Island and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Robert Louis Stevenson's piratical adventure story will be staged in the grounds of Boston Manor House, in Boston Manor Road, from 2pm. The performance is suitable for people aged five or over and will run for about two hours.

Shakespeare's tale of tangled love will be brought to life on the lawns of Gunnersbury Park Museum, in Popes Lane, from 7.30pm. The performance is suitable for people aged eight or over and will also run for about two hours.

There is no need to book for either show. Simply turn up and bring a picnic if you wish.

Both plays will be performed by London Contemporary Theatre, who promise to bring a modern twist to the classic stories.

The performances have been organised by Hounslow Council's parks contractor Carillion. For more info visit www.hounslow.info/outdoortheatre
