People keen to try fishing can join one of two free family fun days.

On Sunday, July 20 and Sunday, August 3 people can head to Little Britain Lake, Packet Boat Lane, Cowley, between 9.30am and 3.30pm, where there will be hourly ‘introduction to fishing’ sessions.

Other free activities including river dipping, a bouncy castle, face painting and craft tent will also be on offer.

Keith Arthur, the presenter of Tight Lines on Sky TV, will be on hand to answer questions and people will also have the opportunity to speak to local anglers and associations about fishing in the borough.

The days are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Registration for fishing is on the day and all equipment, bait and rod license exemptions will be provided.

Councillor Ray Puddifoot, leader of the council, said: “Fishing is a great way for people of all ages to spend time outdoors, and Little Britain Lake is a wonderful place to do so.

“These fishing days are always popular with people keen to try angling for the first time; hundreds of people came along last year and I am grateful to all the experienced local anglers who give up their time to help at these events. We couldn’t do it without them.”
