Happy birthday to Bedfont's newest centenarian, Frances Ellen Groundsell, who is celebrating reaching 100 today.

Ms Groundsell, who lived in Hanworth until her retirement, will mark her special day with a party surrounded by friends and family at Sandbanks residential care home, in Southville Road, where she has been living since 1999.

The birthday girl, who had a sister and has seven nephews and nieces, was born in Emsworth, Sussex, on May 29, 1908, just one day after James Bond novelist Ian Fleming.

Her niece, Rosemary Latimer, said: "Perhaps the secret of her longevity is the glass of Mackeson's milk stout she has enjoyed each evening for the last 60 years or so, she also enjoys a glass of wine occasionally.
