I AM posting this in response to the Talking Pets article in the March 18 issue of the Leader (Fox populations spread dog mite that causes balding, itching and infections).
I am concerned that the article will give further bad press to foxes who, after all, are a part of our wildlife.
Foxes generally cope well with the pressures put on them by human activity due to their ability to adapt to a new situation.
I think people forget that, with the building of new houses and flats, land regularly used by foxes becomes a garden or amenity area for people.
Did you know that it is estimated that one in four fox cubs lives to reach adulthood? Many fall victim to traffic accidents.
Is it possible you could perhaps have a fox-friendly article, particularly as Easter is coming up, and mention the charity Wildlife Aid?
Please check out www.wildlifeaid.org.uk , as seen on TV's Wildlife SOS.
