A recovering alcoholic and a former hard drug user joined health workers in Harrow town centre for Tackling Drugs Week.

The two men relayed their harrowing personal experiences to shoppers who stopped at a special stall set up at St George's shopping centre on Thursday (22) and Friday (23) last week.

Harrow's Drug Action Team also sent out information on alcohol and drug use to schools and organised a stand for a health fair held at Hatch End High School.

Police action in Harrow during Tackling Drugs Week involved the closure of a crack house, a plain clothes operation in Harrow Recreation Ground and the execution of ten warrants for drug offences on different days.
