A once seedy Twickenham pub has beat all other CAMRA pubs in Richmond and Hounslow to be crowned Pub of the Year.
The Sussex Arms, in Staines Road, was virtually abandoned until it was saved by pub group, Twickenham Taverns, four years ago.
The group completely refurbished it and it now serves 12 constantly changing real ales, all from small breweries, and six real ciders.
Building on 2012, when the pub won The Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) London cider pub of the year, the Sussex Arms has been voted CAMRA’s Richmond and Hounslow branch pub of the year for the second year running.
John Austin, head of the CAMRA branch, said: “The pub is a mecca for locals and visitors, and even on crowded rugby days still manages to keep 12 beers flowing!”
