A FELTHAM schoolgirl who quit playing truant and then turned her life around has been congratulated by the Prince of Wales.

Kendal Frost, 16, a pupil at Feltham Community College met Prince Charles on Wednesday (May 2) at St James’s Palace in London.

She said she regularly got into trouble until she joined The Prince’s Trust’s xl club, which helps young people who are struggling with their education. Before the club she concerned her parents and teachers by either not turning up to school and causing trouble when she did.

Kendal said: "I didn’t listen to anyone and would argue for no real reason. I felt angry about everything, and it was like a vicious circle, the more I got into trouble, the angrier I became, which made my behaviour even worse. I was stuck in a rut and didn’t see how I could change things."

The schoolgirl eventually realised her poor behaviour and attendance would have serious consequences for her future and made the effort to change.

Things began to look up when she joined the club set up by Prince Charles.

She said: "I felt like I had been given a second chance, and I wanted to prove that I could change. I still can’t believe I was invited to St James’s Palace to meet The Prince of Wales. Things are really looking up for me, and it’s all thanks to The Prince’s Trust."

Now preparing to sit her GCSEs, Kendal said she feels like a different person and she hopes to achieve passes in all of her subjects. She plans to study childcare next year.
