FORMER classmates from as far afield as America are reuniting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first day at school in Isleworth.

The class of 63 from Isleworth Grammar School, as it was then known, are due to return to the site, in Ridgeway Road, on September 14.

Roughly a quarter of that year's intake of 100 students are already on board but organisers are keen for more old boys to get in touch.

Headteacher Euan Ferguson has offered them a tour of Isleworth & Syon School for Boys, as it is now, before they head to a restaurant to reminisce about their school days.

George Sampson, a CEO in a medical device company, now living in Fleet Street, said this would be the first reunion for more than 20 years and he was keen to hear from as many 'very old boys' as possible.

His most vivid memory is of the 'inspirational' English teacher Brian 'Ben' Francis, who would turn up to lessons every day immaculately dressed in a Savile Row suit and a homburg hat.
