HOUNSLOW'S former top cop has been jailed for the second time for framing an innocent man for assault.

Ali Dizaei committed 'wholesale abuse' of his police powers by falsely arresting web designer Waad Al-Baghdadi outside a Kensington Restaurant before pinning a bogus attack on him.

The 49-year-old, of The Bye, Acton, was borough commander of Hounslow Police between 2005 and 2007.

On Monday (13) afternoon, a jury at Southwark Crown Court found the disgraced Scotland Yard commander guilty of misconduct in a public office and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The verdict came two years to the day after Dizaei was convicted at the same court for the same offences in February 2010, when he was jailed for four years.

That conviction was later quashed by the court of appeal after Al-Baghdadi was found to be a benefits cheat who had claimed £27,000 in his dead father's name.

Dizaei was sentenced to three years, which may be reduced to three months for time already served.
