TV presenter Janet Ellis cut the cake as more than 120 visitors joined the fifth anniversary celebrations for Maggie's cancer centre at Charing Cross Hospital.

The former Blue Peter host also helped draw a raffle on a day highlighted by the debut performance of the Maggies' choir and taster sessions for people interested in the centre's work, which includes beauty makeovers, welfare advice and art therapy for people with cancer.

Head of the centre Bernie Byrne said: “The birthday was a fabulous occasion to help celebrate what Maggie’s London has done over the past five years with lots of tea, cake and fun.

“It is incredible to think we have had more than 18,000 visits to our Centre over the past five years. On our birthday we had more than 120 visitors through our doors and we were delighted to have our patron, Janet Ellis, who is a tremendous supporter, join us in the afternoon to draw the raffle and chat to visitors.

"Here's to the next five years."
