A GROUP of foreign students are the latest nominees after creating a way for people struggling with English to tour historic Gunnersbury Park.

Five students who have English as a second language, have highlighted some of the park’s most interesting spots for their peers, with a podwalk and accompanying leaflet.

They were nominated by Marcin Lewandowski, head of learning for Action Acton, which partly backed the project.

He said: “This project created an opportunity for them to immerse themselves in the language in very natural settings.

“It was a brilliant idea, very meaningful and gave the students a great sense of satisfaction and achievement.”

He added the project would continue to have an impact and benefit numerous people in the future.

The £8,000 project was put together by Action Acton’s Learning Centre and Ealing Council’s parks department, and paid for by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Learning and Skills Improvement Service, Skills Funding Agency and the Equality and Diversity Partnership Project Fund.
