BRENTFORD High Street has again this morning been hit by flooding, thanks to a burst water main.

The road is now closed between Twickenham Road and Half Acre Road and Hounslow Council is urging people to avoid the area if possible.

Firefighters are currently at the scene and are attempting to hold back the flood water from shop fronts.

Residents with a TW8 postcode have been warned they may be without water while Thames Water carries out repairs.

Hounslow Council said in a statement: "A water main burst outside the Holiday Inn in London Road, Brentford earlier this morning. The water main has now been turned off and most of the water has drained away. However, the basement car park of the Holiday Inn is still flooded.

"There is currently a diversion on Brentford High Street at Half Acre and the road is closed between Half Acre and Twickenham Road with diversions in place. No properties have been affected by the burst water main."
