DOES anyone else get as hacked off as I do these days when you want to buy a piece of furniture and it comes flat-packed?
Once again, I had to leave the item in the shop because, if I am forking out £400 on two small cabinets, I don't expect to have to piece them together once I get them.
Homebase didn't seem to give one iota about losing out on the £400.
A service was offered to assemble the furniture and while I don't mind paying an extra £10 or £20 over the top, I'll be darned if I'm paying out nearly £90 for just an hour's work.
There are plenty of workmen advertising, but it's a risk and one I am not prepared to take.
I once asked a family member to assemble a small piece of furniture, but after two years of waiting and nothing but promises, it ended up in the bin. I don't want second-hand either, as last time I bought a second-hand settee, it was so infested it could have walked out on its own.
So has anyone got any other suggestions? Am I the only one that gets peeved about this?
