A fire broke out in the lobby of a block of flats in the South Acton Estate early this morning. (FRI)

The blaze started at around 3am next to the fourth floor lifts of the block in Arlington Court, causing heavy smokelogging to the fourth and fifth floors.

Crews from Acton, Ealing and Chiswick spent around half an hour tackling the fire using a high rise platform and two jets after a member of the public raised the alarm.

No-one was hurt and none of the flats had to be evacuated.

Acton watch manager Pete Morgan said: "There was very severe smoke-logging. We were alerted by a 999 call from a member of the public, which shows how important it is for people to look around and call us if they see a fire."

An investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze.
