SCHOOLS and childcare centres in Hammersmith and Fulham received top results in the latest Ofsted reports.

Five nurseries and four schools now have an 'outstanding' record for providing children and young people with improved education and skills.

Among those in the borough, Brackenbury Primary School in Hammersmith was praised for its 'outstanding' achievement.

Headteacher Laura Lund said: "The Brackenbury School community is thrilled with our recent Ofsted report.

"Our results are due to the hard work and dedication of all those involved in teaching and nurturing the children, as well as the support of our parents, carers and families.

"Brackenbury children are very proud of their 'outstanding' school and we are all working together to ensure the school goes from strength to strength."

The mixed school for three to 11-year-olds achieved a top grade for its overall standards, but the report highlighted the need to develop outdoor areas for better learning opportunities for the children.

Among the other schools who received an 'outstanding' grade were Larmenier and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Sacred Heart High School and The London Oratory School.

Larmenier in Hammersmith was praised for the diverse cultures represented, its after-school clubs and challenging activities, such as music technology workshops.

Sacred Heart High School in Hammersmith is a girls' school with high achievers, with twothirds of students from the local area. The report underlined improvements in PE facilities since the last inspection, including additional activities such as yoga and street dance.

The London Oratory School in Fulham received exceptional results in all areas of the inspection and was noted for the first-class education it offers to pupils and improvements in its delivery of care, guidance and support to students.

The childcare centres that also achieved excellent results were Brook Green After School Project, Little People of Willow Vale and Melrose House Nursery School, plus two child-minders in the area.

Brook Green After School Project in Shepherd's Bush cares for children on weekdays, providing them with meals, art and play activities - all of which were highly praised.

Little People of Willow Vale Nursery in Shepherd's Bush, for toddlers aged two to five, offers 'excellent progress' for learning, with celebrations of all festivals, from Christmas to Diwali to Chinese New Year. Melrose House Nursery School

in Fulham was commended for its outdoor play area encouraging exercise and the children's ability to use a computer mouse to competently select memory and counting games.

Christine Gilbert, chief inspector of education, children's services and skills, said: "I would like to congratulate all who contributed to the success of outstanding provision across all areas of education, training and children's social care in Hammersmith.

"This is good news, not just for the providers but for the children, young people and learners who benefit from such excellent services."
