1) The Stardust Big Band - a local group of talented musicians with a passion for playing jazz music - will be playing the Big Band sounds of the likes of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and much more in their annual autumn charity concert at Hillingdon’s parish church.

The concert will be raising funds in aid of Cancer Research UK, whilst providing an enjoyable evening of entertainment.

The Big Band have been swinging since 2008 and rehearse most weekends in Harefield.

2) Paul Fox, guitarist in the punk band The Ruts, passed away seven years ago at Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood.

Every year since his death, his friend and carer David Snow and friend Vince Bates have held a live music event to commemorate him.

All proceeds from ticket sales of the event go to Michael Sobell Hospice. This year’s headline acts are punk rock band Chelsea and The Moonstompers, one of the leading rocksteady ska and reggae bands in the country.

Other supporting acts include punk group The Crap Shags, ballad punk group Atomic, reggae group Joe Angel & The Dubcats Band and indy rock group Jonestown. All the bands performing at the gig have a connection to Paul Fox.

3) Two of the best things about belonging to an operatic society are the friends you make, and the memories you create together.

Ruislip Operatic Society’s latest show celebrates them both.

A Grand Night for Singing presents the classic songs of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II in exciting new ways. It tells a story of an old theatre due to be demolished, and the society who break in to spend one last night recalling its past glories.

The show contains songs drawn from the entire Rodgers & Hammerstein back catalogue, including Kansas City from Oklahoma!, If I Loved You from Carousel, I’m in Love with a Wonderful Guy from South Pacific, plus many more.

ROS has made its home at the Winston Churchill Hall in Ruislip since it first opened in 1967 as the very first company to perform there.

It recently celebrated its 90th birthday and the cast of A Grand Night for Singing includes both dedicated long-time stalwarts and enthusiastic newcomers including Musical Director, Anthony Wilson.

4) Ha Ha Hood! is the story of former couple Robin and Marian, forced together to fight the Sheriff, ten years after their messy divorce.

Little John and Friar Tuck, now considerably older and rougher around the edges, join the pair to try and save the citizens of Nottingham.

The Sheriff has been in prison for 10 years for committing dastardly deeds - when he comes out he wants to get even with Robin by marrying his one true love Marian.

Written by and starring Ben Langley, comedy queen Su Pollard and duo Cannon and Ball, Ha Ha Hood! is promised to be arrow splittingly funny.

5) Kenton Light Operatic Society was founded in 1950 and is now known as KLOS Musical Theatre.

The group performs two musicals a year and their latest - Anything Goes - includes well known classics It’s Delovely, I Get a Kick Out of You and You’re the Top.

The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope.
