A super granny has been given a vital grant to keep running her fitness class for over-50s.

Liz Dale, 86, feared she would have to cancel her weekly sessions at the Grove Neighbourhood Centre, in Bradmore Park Road, Hammersmith .

But Hammersmith United Charities donated £250 to cover the charge to hire the room each week, so Ms Dale can keep fees down to just £2.50 a person.

It means the club will continue to run for another few months.

Ms Dale, who runs the classes voluntarily, said: “I started here over 20 years ago when it was just a shack.

“I had two ladies and through the years I just approached people in the street and said come to my class and I can get you fit.

“We’re a nice group. We go out, we talk about things and find free services to do with our health.

“We help if there are different crises in each of our lives, like if someone’s ill, we will help. I try to do things for the community.”

Ms Dale has held numerous fundraising events over the years, including a sponsored abseil down Hammersmith Town Hall when she was 60.

The group is keen to recruit new members, visit www.groveneighbours.org.uk to find out more.
