A fire broke out at Wembley Park station today (Thursday, December 11), causing severe delays on the Metropolitan line.
Firefighters were called to the 'minor' blaze, which involved electrical equipment on one of the platforms, at around 10.40am.
However, the fire was out by the time they arrived and crews left by around 11.10am.
A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “There was a small fire involving electrical equipment but the fire was all out on our arrival. Duty was left with London Underground."
The incident caused severe delays on the Metropolitan line between 10.30am and 10.50am.
Trains were then part-suspended between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate, with severe delays on the rest of the line until around 11.20am.
Dave White, London Underground’s general manager for the Metropolitan line, said: “At around 10.30am the Metropolitan line was delayed due to a fire alert caused by a minor trackside fire in the Wembley Park area.
"As part of usual process for such incidents our Emergency Response Unit was on the scene with the London Fire Brigade to deal with the problem safely and quickly. By around 11.20am the problem was resolved without any injury to passengers or staff.”
