I refer to your article regarding the recent announcement from Ealing Council that they will be refunding fines collected since June 20.

However I cannot understand why this cut-off date is being used.

Surely if these boxes were illegal then all fines should be refunded, going back to when the boxes were first wrongly marked.

Apparently £3m has been collected from us, the taxpayer, and we should be entitled to our money back.

Would the council please confirm that they were totally wrong to use these boxes as a means of collecting revenue totally unfairly.
