A SOLEMN silence fell in Kensington as crowds remembered those who have died while serving the country.

Kensington and Chelsea Mayor, Councillor Timothy Coleridge led the borough's Remembrance Sunday ceremony at St Mary Abbots church, in Kensington High Street, on Sunday.

Troops from the Parachute Regiment, 31 Signal Regiment, the Royal Yeomanry, University of London Royal Naval Unit and University of London Air Squadron met outside the town hall, in Hornton Street, before marching to the war memorial outside the church.

A second event was held in Sloane Square, led by deputy mayor Councillor Terence Buxton.
