Fundraisers ferreted out a fun Friday, helping children with special needs along the way.
Karers4Kidz, which organises activities for youngsters with learning difficulties, co-hosted the annual ferret races in Ickenham Village Hall in Swakeleys Road on Friday night last week with the Ickenham Festival team.
There were nine races on the card, with ferrets going head to head around a special obstacle course, as the excited punters laid bets.
The ticket price included a fish supper provided by Frydays fish and chip shop of Ickenham and Barclays matched the night's takings through its community fundraising setup.
Uxbridge Rugby Club members who had sponsored one of the rwces generously donated all their winnings to the fundraising total, as did Stacey Fryer, who won one of the spot prizes during the evening.
The proceeds are split by Kares4Kidz, which uses the money for its work, and the festival team, which will use it to subsidise children's fairground rides at next summer's festival.
The evening raised £2,782, including the maximum £750 fund-matching donation by Barclays - £800 more than last year.
