Hundreds of primary school pupils in the borough are set to receive new dictionaries thanks to donations made to the Feltham rotary club last year.

Generous contributions made by the public, to the annual collection held at Tesco on the High Street in Feltham, raised more than £2,500 which will be pumped back into the community.

About 700 Year 5 students in 11 schools in the area will get to keep their own copy and use it throughout the year.

Remaining funds collected will be distributed to local charities and to support overseas disasters.

Rotarian Eddie Menday said: "Feltham Rotary wish to thank the management and staff at Tesco's for their kind cooperation and the local community for its wonderful generosity."

The Feltham Rotary club members meet every Tuesday, at the Assembly Hall, The Fairholme Estate, Staines Road, Bedfont, at 6.30pm.
