FELTHAM & Bedfont Carnival celebrated its own diamond jubilee by reuniting carnival queens from down the decades.

Queens and their attendants from as far back as 1976 attended the annual fair in Feltham's Blenheim Park as it marked its 60th anniversary over the weekend.

They joined the newly-crowned queen of this year's festival Sophie Bentley on a parade through Feltham on Saturday (June 9) to kick-start two days of fun in the park.

The rain held off throughout the weekend as hundreds of people enjoyed entertainment ranging from fairground rides and live music to dog and horse shows.

Carnival secretary Sandra Bassett said: "It was a great success. It was nice to see some of the old queens and their attendants, and we were very lucky with the weather.

"It's getting harder every year to organise and advertise the event, and we could do with some fresh blood to help out, but we hope to be back next year."

This year's parade has a diamond theme, with the beavers of Bedfont and Feltham winning top prize for their diamond and soldier costumes.

Youngsters made their own crowns at the Blenheim Park Party, organised by local churches, and model lifeboats at the RNLI storm attracted big crowds.

Staff from Feltham's Matalan store, led by 'Captain America', won the tug of war, donating their winnings to the NSPCC.

Other winners this year included:

Carnival queen: Sophie Bentley, 14

Queen's attendants: Kelsey Wetherall-Rusk, 12, and Codie Beecroft, 10
