A FELTHAM police team are supporting homeless people this Christmas by providing them with delicious meals.

The Safer Transport Team, based at Feltham Police Station, decided to assist a Hounslow Charity called Project 10 this year, which provides the homeless, recovering drug users, and people with mental health issues, with somewhere to go.

Pcso Michelle Davies and the team have managed to collect so much festive food from local businesses including turkey, vegetables, stuffing and puddings, that meals can be provided throughout the Christmas period.

She said: "Through our work we have discovered we have lots of homeless and needy people on our borough.

"Project 10 community centre is located in School Road, Hounslow. It offers all sorts of support and help from housing to getting back into the workplace. This local community centre is used every day through out the year".

When the SNT discovered that the co-ordinator of Project 10 had no luck sourcing Christmas dinner this year for members, it decided to step in.

Pcso Davies said: "With the help of my colleagues Pcso Anna Madden and Pcso Mark James, I decided to see if we could help. We went about emailing, ringing and visiting supermarkets and shops all over the borough.

"We are delighted to say many companies have donated seasonal foods. Having a Christmas dinner and somewhere to go will make a huge difference to what can be a very lonely time of year for some".

The team has thanked several shops in the borough including Marks and Spencer in Chiswick and Hounslow, Waitrose in Chiswick, Sainsbury's in Chiswick, and ASDA Hounslow.

Project 10, School Road, is serving hot food to the homeless on Thursday December 23 December between midday and 6pm, Friday December 24 between 3pm and 8pm, Saturday December 25 between midday and 6pm, Sunday December 26 between midday and 6pm, Monday December 27 between midday and 6pm, Wednesday December 29 between 3pm and 8pm, Thursday December 30 between midday and 6pm, Friday December 31 between midday and 6pm, and Sunday January 2 between midday and 6pm.
