A selfless little boy from Feltham is just one away from his mile run in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

With news of Aarav Sapra's noble deed spreading through the borough, Specsavers in Feltham, decided to donate £150 in support of the four-year-old's feat as well as give him his first ever pair of prescription sunglasses.

The boy, of Wigley Road, Feltham, will turn five on Wednesday (6) and will run from his home to the Asda in the town centre, along with family and friends including dad Rohat Arora, 36, and mum Komal Sapra, 30 – who will run with 16-month-old daughter Aarya in a buggy.

Komal Sapra, Aarav’s mum, said: "We are delighted that Specsavers in Feltham is donating to the cause.

"We go down to the store all the time because Aarav is constantly breaking his glasses and the team are just brilliant.

"He has really come out of his shell since deciding to do the run and he can’t wait to take part, along with his school friends who will be lending their support on his birthday.

"He is so happy to be receiving his very own pair of sunglasses as he didn’t expect to get any gifts this birthday.

"I told him he wouldn’t get any presents this year but that he would get lots of blessings that would last hundreds of years, so this was an added bonus for him and we are very grateful to Specsavers for their donation."

Aarav has smashed his original target of £500, and secondary target of £1,000, and has reached in excess of £1370 in donations.

Selcuk Arslan, store director at Specsavers in Feltham, said: "When we heard about Aarav and the mile-long run he is doing for his fifth birthday, we had to get involved.

"We can’t believe how noble he is for such a young age - what an honourable thing to do.

"We hope he has a great birthday and look forward to seeing him in store soon – hopefully with no broken sunglasses."
