I READ your piece in this week’s Harrow Observer (February 2) about the proposal by

Harrow Community Sports to use its land at Broadfields Country Club in Headstone

Lane as a holidaying caravan park.

As a resident of Barmor Close, which borders the site, I am very concerned about this proposed development, and the disturbance and noise that it will cause to a residential community.

It will compound the traffic congestion in the neighbourhood – Headstone Lane and the surrounding streets are already extremely busy with traffic, parked cars etc.

There will be an increase in the rubbish and litter that a constant stream of caravan owners and their families (with no responsibility for maintaining the neighbourhood) will inevitably leave behind them.

Without doubt, this development will cause a decline in the quality of life for those who live in the area.

Moreover, it will adversely affect property values nearby – no one will want to purchase property next to a caravan park.

From the perspective of a local resident and home owner, I cannot think of a single argument in its favour and I oppose it wholeheartedly.

Even for temporary use of the land at Broadfields in this way, the owners will surely require a local authority licence.

I propose, therefore, to raise the matter with my local councillors.
