Strutting down the catwalk was all in a day's work for a group of young people from Harrow.

Teenagers took part in a fashion show organised by the Belmont Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), in St Ann's Shopping Centre, in St Ann's Road, on Thursday (29). The fashion show was entitled Life's About Choices - Show Respect, Earn Respect, Be Respected. The event took place on a professional catwalk in the food court area of the centre, with young models getting a taste of the limelight.

Sergeant Graham Couling, from Belmont SNT, said: "The idea came from a youth panel on our ward and has taken around a year to organise. The theme of the show was about the choices young people make and the possible consequences.

"It was an opportunity for the police to get a better understanding of young people and it was a bit if fun for them in the first instance."

Three half hour fashion shows took place throughout the afternoon, showcasing clothes from local stores in the area. During the event there were also performances from local dance group Yi Dao Dragon and Lion Troupe and theatre company Flash Musicals.

More than 20 young people between the ages of 11 and 17 choreographed, performed and directed the show, which raised money for the Northwick Park Hospital's special baby care unit.
